The season of Thanksgiving is a time for being grateful for all the blessings we have, and sharing with those whose blessings are not as bountiful. If you are looking for an opportunity to meet the most basic of needs for a family, consider buying a Thanksgiving meal for a family from Head Start.
Head Start is a fantastic program worthy of support of the community! Head Start promotes school readiness of children under 5 from low-income families through education, health, social and other services. Head Start provides comprehensive services to support the mental, social, and emotional development of children from birth to age 5. In addition to education services, programs provide children and their families with health, nutrition, social, and other services.
The Huntsville Junior Service League supports Head Start through many annual projects such as Feed-A-Family, Fall Festival, Community Resource Fair, Graduation and other programs. Please consider joining us in filling the tables of some of the local families this Thanksgiving. Currently, there are 9 families remaining to be adopted and have their Thanksgiving meal provided. If you would like to help, contact Patsy in the deli at Brookshire Brothers to adopt a family. Full meals can be purchased from $33-$65 depending on the size of the family. These meals will include turkey, dressing, gravy, rolls and two side items. Help spread cheer this Thanksgiving by filling the bellies of your neighbors!
