One week ago, we had a wonderful day celebrating women and volunteerism at our 2nd Annual Mother of Pearl Brunch. We were so honored to have had so many lovely ladies share their Saturday morning with us and help us to raise funds to continue the good works of the Huntsville JSL.
The service auction had fantastic items such as a canning party, 6 months of desserts, hand-sewn baby quilt set, family portrait session, mother’s night off family meal package, computer check-up, wreaths for every season, custom calligraphy and invitations, fajita dinner for 20, personal training and yoga, party planning services, Huntsville night out on the town, custom cedar porch swing, and a custom family package with photo coasters, menu planning board and family birthday calendar.
The decorations committee worked hard to make the room gorgeous and brought a touch of fun to an antique tea-style décor. Roses and greenery from local gardens as well as hydrangeas, mums and other floral combinations in milk glass made for beautiful tablescapes. Thanks to Dusty Diamonds for the swag bags provided for our table sponsors!
A photobooth of black and white stripes with stunning hand-made paper flowers made a great back drop for pictures. Thanks to Amy McCormick of Picture Perfect Images for capturing a fun keepsake for the guests!
Our guests enjoyed a fantastic brunch of quiche, potatoes, fruit, and pastries prepared by Aramark catering company. The ladies of Huntsville JSL did a great job of serving.
Dr. Roseanne Keathley, Associate Dean of Health Sciences at SHSU was our featured speaker and gave a wonderful speech about the importance of volunteering. Not only do those in need benefit from volunteers, but also research has proven there are many benefits to individuals who serve.
Near the end of the event, drawing winners were chosen for the 5 raffle door prizes – Kendra Scott earring and necklace set, Ballet Basket, Pallet Bookshelves, Beauty Basket and Vintage Chalk Board Sign- and the Pandora pearl ring that was donated by Ernst Jewelers. Each of the winners was super excited to have their name drawn! Our big winner, Phyllis, is a big supporter of JSL projects throughout the year and was thrilled to win the pearl ring!!
Thank you to our event sponsors… Ernst Jewelers, Walker County Ace Hardware, Dr. BJ Atkins, Smoothie King, Dr. David Prier, and Sustainers Debbie Allen, Stephanie Pitts, and Charlene Sandel!
We look forward to next year’s 3rd Annual Mother of Pearl Brunch!!
