Year-in-Review ~ A look back on the 2015 service year

2015-2016 proved to be another stellar year for the ladies of JSL!  We kicked off the year with the annual summer Meet and Greet where we welcomed 18 outstanding Provisionals.

We again turned one of our service projects into a service social and as a League made laundry detergent to be handed out to the community at our October food truck.

As in years past we continued our support and participation in community events such as Fair on the Square, Scare on the Square, Meals on Wheels, the Food Bank,  Special Olympics, Say Yes to the Dress, and Wounded Warrior Project.

The Provisional Service Project consisted of making blankets for the Huntsville Police Department to use when children are taken from their homes.

The League introduced a new service project for the community with the creation of the Santa Shop. The Santa Shop is held in conjunction with the December Food Truck and allows youth to shop for Christmas presents for family members. League members worked diligently to collect gifts and even provided wrapping so the kids could have something under the tree for their loved ones.

The spring was also jam packed with excitement as we hosted our 2nd Annual Sip-n-See honoring 25 mothers of the Pregnancy Care Center.

Our 3rd Annual Mother of Pearl event with guest speaker Blythe Ernst was a wonderful event celebrating service. Ernst Jewelry again donated a beautiful Pandora necklace and ring set as the raffle item.

With the continued success of the mobile food truck the League has added two additional mobile deliveries throughout the year to better serve our community. Our Spring Service Social consisted of bagging red beans and rice ingredients for distribution at the mobile food truck.
