Yesterday was a fantastic day of service! We were blessed to have 70 volunteers work together to distribute free food from the Houston Food Bank to over 150 families! Thank you to all who came to serve with us…Society of Forensic Scientists, National Organization of Hispanics in Criminal Justice, Huntsville Leo Club, Huntsville High Spanish Honors Society, Huntsville Church of Christ and community helpers.
Our guests were able to take home milk, potatoes, bananas, chips, crackers, lunch meat, carrots, and oranges. We are happy to be able to partner with the Houston Food Bank to bring much needed food to our Walker County neighbors.
The food truck is one of our most impactful projects and it would not be possible without the support of our community through helping us raise funds with our fall and spring fundraisers, volunteering alongside us and sharing important posts. Thank you to all who make it possible for us to bring the food truck from the Houston Food Bank to Huntsville!
The truck will be returning on Saturday, December 7th. We will also be hosting our Santa Shop that day where children in attendance can shop for free Christmas gifts for the adults in their lives.
Registration for both begins at 8:00am. As soon as we are able to sort and bundle the food in family size portions, we will release our guests 5-10 at a time to pull around to the proper spot for us to load their vehicles. Each family household may take one portion of food home so that we are able to serve as many individual families as possible. We look forward to serving Walker County again soon!
