Dr. Genevieve Brown spent all of her esteemed career as an educator. She began her career as a teacher in public school and later served in administration as an Assistant Superintendent at Katy ISD. On a visit to Sam Houston State University campus, Genevieve decided that she wanted to teach future teachers. She began her 28-year career as a professor at Sam Houston, where she became the Dean of the College of Education in 2002. Dr. Brown has a true passion education and for Sam Houston State University.

In her retirement, she has spent time in various volunteer positions and serves on numerous boards throughout Huntsville. She currently co-chairs the Promoting Our Positives Committee in support of the Huntsville Independent School District. Dr. Brown has received numerous awards over the years and received the Mance Park Lifetime Achievement award at the Huntsville Walker County Chamber of Commerce Gala in December of 2018.
